Rights Group Condemns Detention of Palestinian Journalists by PA Forces

(Ma’an News Agency) — The Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PHCR) condemned the detention of two journalists by the Palestinian Preventive Security Services on Thursday.Freelance television journalists Alaa Al-Titi and Asyad Amarna were detained while reporting in the West Bank city of Hebron on Wednesday.PHCR expressed “deep concern over repeated assaults against press freedoms and the right to the freedom of expression.”Al-Titi and Amarna were formerly employed by Al-Aqsa TV in Ramallah, but have been working on a freelance basis since Al-Aqsa TV’s West Bank branch was shut down by the Fatah-controlled Palestinian Authority after Hamas’ takeover of the Gaza Strip.

The two journalists remained in Palestinian custody as of Thursday evening.
