‘Afghan commandos discover 230 tonnes of cannabis in the desert’

[Not the kind of smoking they had in mind]

(The Independent) — “Afghan officials have announced a world record in the war on drugs after they unearthed more than 200 tonnes of cannabis buried in desert trenches. Two RAF Harrier jets were called in to bomb the 236.8-tonne cache, with a minimum street value of £225m. It was found by Afghan commandos who work with Britain’s Special Boat Service. The entrances to the trenches were concealed with branches… The raid was one in a series of strikes against narcotics laboratories across southern Afghanistan last week…” Click for full article

Gives new definition to the phrase, “Let’s Burn One Down.”

Seriously, though, the British bombed the cache of weed with harrier jets, effectively destroying 225 million dollars worth of pot. Really? If the cache was found by the Americans, I don’t think it would have been so destroyed. In fact, I am calling conspiracy theory on this one. That is too large of a street value not to be cashed in by the British DEA, or whatever. Bottom line: If governments find that shit, they find a way to smuggle it out and sell it. Hasn’t anyone seen Clear and Present Danger with Harrison Ford where that corrupt President orders a black ops operation to sieze $600 million dollars of Pablo Escobar’s Cali cocaine cartel money?
